Betrayer Hands On Preview

Early adopters looking to get in on the ground floor of something possibly amazing might want to check out this intriguing alpha by Blackpowder Games.

Like it or not, the Age of the Alpha Release is here.  Whether it’s Steam Early Access, or more humble releases like Sir, You Are Being Hunted, and Cube World, or even Bohemia’s Arma 3, alpha releases are everywhere these days.  It’s a controversial subject - some are complaining that companies are charging for incomplete products they may or may not finish, while others believe the process helps fund games that otherwise might never be developed.  It’s hard for me to find a suitable metaphor for this complex matter other than likening it to buying a fruit and waiting for it ripen.

Dark Souls + Neon Genesis Evangelion = 1.5 Minutes of Video You have to See.

This is one obvious labor of love, or possibly insanity.

Risen 2: Dark Waters Review

Why is it always a kraken? Throw us a nautilus every now and then.

It isn’t often you find yourself enjoying being kicked in the face, but I guess the fantasy of being a pirate has to be grounded every now and then with a harsh dose of how a world with monsters has to work, and Risen 2 has every intention of being a nasty educator. Developed by Piranha Bytes, the house that brought us the Gothic series and the first Risen, Risen 2: Dark Waters feels both familiar to its pedigree and oh-so much nastier.

Demon's Souls World Tendency Shifts for the Holidays

It's apparently a white Christmas in Boletaria.

Last week Atlus announced they would be shifting the world tendency in Demon's Souls to white for the holidays.  For the unfamiliar, a pure white tendency means that certain, previously inaccessible locations will be unlocked and the game will be made easier.  Keep in mind that all easier means in a Demon's Souls context is that the game won't kick your ass quite as hard as it normally does.
